Ifuku Family Foundation

The Ifuku Family Foundation was established in 2000 by Seiju and Ayako Ifuku, the founders of Rainbow Drive-In, Ltd. We are a small, board-run foundation that awards annual grants to Hawaii-based non-profit organizations and schools.

The philosophy of the Foundation is to support small, discrete programs that have a direct impact on those in need and to award scholarships in the culinary arts to students who need assistance in paying for tuition, school supplies or books to complete their two-year programs. We also award post high school scholarships to qualifying employees and their children. All scholarships are awarded based on the student’s need and perseverance — while they have to be the best academically, they also need to convince our board that their choice to continue school will improve or change their lives.

Both Seiju and Ayako Ifuku believed that education is the key for positive change in a person’s life. As Seiju always said, “They can never take your education away from you.” Neither Seiju nor Ayako graduated from high school. This Foundation is possible because of their hard work, and we are dedicated to assist those in our community who are in need and to encourage education.
